Hospitality Group Places Value on Centralization, Organization, and Seamless Collaboration
At a Glance – the Players
A global luxury hospitality group with properties across the United States, Mexico, and Europe operates a portfolio of 27 luxury hotels, resorts, residences, and private clubs. Each property offers a unique experience while sharing a crafted approach to luxury through captivating design, exceptional cuisine, innovative spas, and gracious yet unobtrusive service. With continued expansion plans, including 5 new properties scheduled to join their portfolio, the organization needed a scalable solution for their growing content needs.
DigitalGlue has been the ally of video professionals since 2002, guiding them through the challenges inherent in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Customers and partners depend on DigitalGlue’s dedication to providing tools that support uncompromising creativity and productivity while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of their daily operations.
Powered by DigitalGlue, creative.space offers an alternative to traditional storage systems with a shared approach to accommodate any budget. The platform is designed to streamline collaboration workflows and enhance productivity for video teams while also setting a new standard for media storage with its white-glove service and flexible payment models.
The Challenge
The hospitality group wanted to transition from an obsolete storage system that housed hard drives in homes and offices to a proper replacement platform. The new solution had to feature remote capabilities that allowed the company’s diversely located team to easily view footage that was organized and accessed efficiently. The system had to be compatible with their editing software and able to maintain the organization’s footage, ensuring it would be preserved successfully and not degrade over time. Since expansion plans for new properties in Europe were already underway, they wanted a storage system capable of scaling as their content inventory grew, with a built-in MAM for future use.
“Our business need was initially organization, storage and preservation of our video content,” explained their Senior Director of Global Digital Marketing. “We also wanted to ensure the system we selected was a proper storage solution that grew with us and offered tools that enabled us to work more effectively, eventually allowing us to become nimbler and use our content more efficiently.”
The team consulted with editors, videographers, and camera operators for feedback regarding their preference on structure and features that they considered priorities. Common and recurring threads included requests for a centralized, organized system that was readily accessible to the remote team, with a structure that was fully backed up for safety but avoided full cloud dependence.
The Solution
After exploring numerous options, the hospitality group’s team decided on creative.space for several key reasons.
“The fact that creative.space makes easy work of accessing remote content first attracted us to their system,” explained their Digital Content Manager. “Add that to avoiding fees associated with cloud and not relying on the realities of home internet speeds, and we had our decision!”
DigitalGlue’s creative.space is an award-winning on-premises managed storage solution that provides high-performance in a small footprint to fit a vast range of applications. An easy-to-use software platform, built-in remote workflow tools and simple mounting mechanism with a desktop app make easy work of installing and operating the system which comes standard with 24/7 proactive support. Features include a blazing-fast network-attached storage server with off-premises back-up, remote access, video editing capabilities with proxies via VPN, and the ability to transfer folders and files with built-in HTTPS protocol.
The Digital Content Manager reiterated that creative.space’s ability to allow editors to share distributed video was a priority, and its secure link sharing is a standout feature to facilitate seamless collaboration among creative teams, regardless of location. “When a video shoot comes in, it is ingested into the server and uploaded from there as well, making it accessible to the entire team. It streamlines our workflow by eliminating downtime waiting for content to upload and download on either side of the workflow.”
creative.space interoperates seamlessly with Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve, the software the hospitality group works with. Currently, they are utilizing creative.space for major edits across the organization’s collection-wide videos. When a video shoot wraps, the footage is ingested into the server, organized, and automatically backed up at a remote location. Editors can access content on the server from any location and share shots easily.
The Results
The hospitality group signed on to creative.space in the spring of 2023 and was up and running within a month. According to their Digital Content Manager, “It was a smooth transition, the kind of experience you want when you’re embarking on a new system or technology to work with. When things did pop up during the initial setup and transfer of content, the creative.space team’s speed was exceptional and they hopped on any technical issues immediately.”
He remarked that the system has been meeting expectations. “It’s helped cut down overall time without any downside. With creative.space we’re not having to spend hours uploading content, then someone else downloads it, works on it and then uploads again.”
The Senior Director added, “Although our brand is known for old-fashioned service, we are a very tech-forward organization. We ensure our guests receive the highest and best level of comfort via every convenience possible, and that philosophy touches every part of our business. We seek out tech solutions that allow us to deliver a superior product, whether it be videos for corporate, guests or advertisements. And that’s what creative.space gave us - an edge over the competition.”
Looking Forward
As the hospitality group expands their portfolio of luxury properties over several continents, the need to store, protect and make its content accessible to a global team grows. The organization is looking toward optimizing creative.space’s components, especially the recently launched built-in MAM, so each hotel property is not isolated from collective resources.
